Full-length digital x-rays or full-length radiographs form a very vital part of orthopedics, mostly comprising of the digital images of the spinal cord and the lower limbs. Full-length x-ray is mostly preferred in those cases where the dimensions and angular measurements of a patient are important, like prior to some surgeries.
With the help of full-length x-ray, it is possible to determine on exact which area(s) the surgery will be done and with great precision.
Dorso-posterior full-length x-rays can determine bone abnormalities, tumor/ abnormalities in the groin area and even fish-crack in the pelvic girdle.
Full-length x-rays of the spinal cord can effectively reveal slip-disks, vertebral fissure, bone corrosion, spinal bending and even bone tumor.
Most x-rays are quick and require or almost none to little preparation; but having said that, it is also important for you to know that due to heavy incoming patient traffic, we literally strive to keep your appointments on schedule. So, please arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your appointment for registration.
Certain x-rays need contrast agents which can be swallowed, injected or administered via enema. You may be required to hold your breath, remain very still while a quick exposure is made. Pregnancy tests are required for individuals from 11 to 55.So please make it a point to bring a urine sample upon your arrival at the testing facility. Your concerned physician should guide you further in this aspect. In most cases, your imaging exam will be interpreted within 24 hours.
Please keep in mind that your doctor’s office may need additional time to incorporate the report into your personal medical record.
